The Zermatt Gornergrat train has been operational for over 125 years. It takes passengers from the village of Zermatt to the summit of Gornergrat.
The 360-degree panorama from the observation deck at the Klein Matterhorn station offers a breathtaking view of more than 38 mountain peaks reaching 4,000 meters.
Zermatt is its old village, Strolling through the old part of the village of Zermatt called “Hinterdof” it’s a delight to discover more than 30 buildings constructed in the traditional style of the barns and stores.

To go back down to Zermatt, you may want to have a gentle hike to Riffel Lake, 10 minutes from Rotenboden station. Also called the Mirror Lake, Lake Riffel offers a mirror to Matterhorn. A great photo spot in a protected natural area with rare Alpine flora.
After an early pick you up at your hotel, for the best chance of having no clouds on the summits, your professional driver will transfer you to Täsch. This small mountain town is the gate to Zermatt, the typical Valais mountain village and world famous ski resort. You will go up with a local mountain train as Zermatt is a car-free area. Relax and enjoy the views! Once in Zermatt, you will have a short ride with an electric taxi, to the gondola and cable car.
A masterpiece of 19th century engineering, it is now a modern and well-equipped train. Enjoy the ride and try to see some marmots and chamois during the 30-minute climb! From the viewing platform, you can enjoy 29 4000 m (13,123 ft) Alpine peaks, it is simply one of the world’s most wonderful panoramas.
