Go back to the Belle Époque and ride the 19th century cog train. Sit on retro wood benches and enjoy the ride up to the station, at 1,967 m (6 453 ft). Visit the alpine garden, have a taste of Swiss cuisine at the « Schynige Platte » panoramic view restaurant or try one of the hiking trails starting from the station.

HARDERN KULM FUNICULAR

Take the funicular, pass through a forest and get to the mountain station. The ‘TwoLakes-Bridge’ viewing platform gives you a splendid panorama onto Lake Brienz and Lake Thun. Admire the vista on Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. Have a drink at the restaurant with its lovely turrets.

LAKE BRIENZ AND BRIENZ VILLAGES

Navigate on the wonderful turquoise waters of Lake Brienz, with the 1914 ‘Lötschberg’ steamer or with theme excursions. Walk on some of the hiking trails around the 14 kilometre-long lake. Visit the traditional villages on the lake’s shores. A must-see is the cosy village of Brienz, with its houses decorated with wood carvings and its lake promenade and views. Giessbach Waterfalls is another spectacular site near Brienz.

SCHILTHORN SUMMIT

A great way to see the Interlaken region’s mains points of attraction in one day. The Schilthorn offers a wide panoramic view on the Eiger, Mönch, Jungfrau, the Jura mountains in France and the Black Forest in Germany. Did you know that this place appears in a James Bond movie? Visit Iseltwald, an idyllic fishermen’s village on the shores of Lake Brienz. This postcard village is tucked in a small bay. It the perfect place to relax and to enjoy Swiss cuisine at a local restaurant with a view. We recommend fresh fish! The small peninsula with the Seeburg castle and the Schnäggeninseli island give the place a unique romantic feel.
